I finished quilting a top for a friend. She was kind enough to let me just go wild and quilt the heck out of it! And I did!
She had pieced the top together about 10 years ago and started quilting it then stopped. She had even finished the binding even though it wasn't completely quilted. I took off the binding and picked out all of the quilting she had done. Then I basted and started quilting it. The seams were not very matchy (still way better than my first quilt) so I had to create my own guidelines. Starting in the center I mapped out a square and quilted a checked pattern. I continued working my way out creating boxes and borders as I went. I tried to use a different quilt pattern in each section just for practice. I had lots of fun and it was great practice. I trimmed it and put the binding back on and gave it to her yesterday. She was very pleased.

HST love

Just felt like making HST's? So I did! I made about 60 four inch hst's. I have no idea what I will do with them but I had fun making them. Sometimes you just have to do what you want to do not what you should do.

Columbus Modern Quilt Guild Bee

I am so excited to be apart of this Guild and this Bee, my first Bee Ever! So here it goes I hope it makes sense.
I'am requesting that my block be made of white, coral, navy and aqua. Solids are great but prints are fine too. I would however like each block to be of the same color ie. white and navy not white, aqua and navy. Monochromatic? My inspiration is Art Gallery's fabric Summer Grove by Day print from the Meadow collection by Leah Duncan. I've been eyeing the Rolling Stone block and I found this simple tutorial at Quilty. Click here for the video and here to download the pattern. In the pattern where it says "dark print" please use white in place of a dark print. And your colored fabric will be the light print. If you have a square from me that will be your center. I'm absolutely sure I will love everything you make!

Email me if you have any questions.

Finished up my Quilt from the new Quilty Magazine. I think it was the Nov/Dec issue. I love quilting squares it just seems so easy for me. Circles are way more challenging. It has a great modern feel even though it is not all solids.

Beautiful Fabrics from Fabricworm

Lovin my package I found on the front porch after work. I was really just looking for Camelot Fabrics new line Iconic. My new favorite color combo is navy and coral with aqua, white and yellow. I found it at Fabricworm along with a few other goodies. I bought a little bit of Joel Dewberry's True Colors Wood Grain in yellow, gray and purple. What a wonderful day!

First try at Paper Piecing

Thanks to Rita from Red Pepper Quilts for lighting a fire under me. She totally inspired me to step outside my comfort zone and learn a new technique. It took me a while but I figured it out and I love it!

Snowflakes Runner

I whipped up this little runner out of navy snowflake material I found in my stash. I love navy and white. It is so crisp and clean. I quilted random concentric squares all over the white area and at the ends in the navy. It turned out great. I used this tutorial from one of my favorite bloggers Piece N Quilt.
